2013 Westward Adventure

Our Annual July road trip totaling 5,150 miles in 12 days, included visits to 6 States: Hays, Kansas - Denver, Colorado – Rock Springs, Wyoming - Wendover, Utah – Tonopah, Nevada – in California, we visited Mamoth Lakes, Yosemite and Sequoia National Parks – and celebrated Independence Day watching fireworks lit-up the sky over the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco. We drove along Big Sur, visited President Ronald Reagan Library, saw the majestic beauty of Arches National Park and Monument Valley, a quick stop to see the Bypass Bridge at Hoover Dam, and back to St. Louis, Missouri.

Our Route 66 Adventure

We did it! On Tuesday, June 29, 2010, we reached the End of the Trail at the Yatch Harbor in Santa Monica, California. We completed our Route 66 Adventure in 13 months. Our first kicks started on June 7, 2009 in St. Louis, Missouri. By mid-August, we navigated thru all the towns in Missouri and most of Illinois. In October, we got our kicks all the way to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. On Sunday, June 13, 2010, we were at the Begin of the Route in Chicago, Illinois. Two weeks later, on Thursday, June 24th, we began our cruise on America’s Mother Road from Joplin, Missouri; thru Oklahoma; Armarillo, Texas; Santa Fe, New Mexico; Arizona (Grand Canyon, Petrified Forest, Holbrook, Winslow) Arizona, Hoover Dam, Utah/Nevada; Las Vegas, Nevada and then Santa Monica, California. We still have the T-bird but decided on the Mustang as it was more comfortable for long-distance driving. We drove a total of 4,437 miles seeing America (we thought Arizona has the most interesting and scenic route), meeting many interesting people along the Route and feeling a deep gratitude of how blessed we are to be living in America. There is still so much to see and we already plan our next Route 66 road trip!

2012 Southward Adventure

Our July 2012 road trip, totalling 2,982 miles in 9 days, includes a visit to Atlanta, Stone Mountain Park, Savannah (Georgia), then on to Hilton Head, Charleston, (South Carolina), Asheville (Bitlmore Estate), Mt. Airy aka Mayberry (North Carolina), driving all 470 miles of Blue Ridge Parkway from North Carolina to Virginia, and had a great time on the Great Smokey Mountain train ride. In September 2012, our visit to Kentucky included Jim Beans American Stillhouse, Wild Turkey Distillery, Mammoth Cave, Bardstown, Churchill Downs and Louisville Slugger Museum.
